Although I don't notice as much of an increase in my spring bulb flowers as I had hoped, I love every spot of color that pops open for me.
My dwarf iris "harmony" and the scilla siberica set the blue theme for my cottage garden that continues on in other flowers throughout the seasons.
But the yellow primroses and various shades of purple crocuses add plenty of contrast.
I consider spring bulbs an essential addition to any cottage garden.
If you are preparing a new garden this year or revamping part of an old one spend some time thinking in terms of design and color.

Flying home on Monday, and I see it is going to be double digit weather this weekend. Hope the snowdrops wait for me.
ReplyDeleteNice Spring flowers. Always a welcome sign of Spring. Nice photos. Hope I can show some one of these days (more like weeks) still have snow on the ground in the gardens! Jack
ReplyDeleteDeborah, my snowdrops are still doing fine, and my daughter, who lives closer to you on 17th W, has a back yard full of them.
ReplyDeleteWaters East, it's hard to believe you still have snow. We have a few snow piles here that are not quite gone yet, but another day like this one and they will shrink to nothing.
